‘Bye and thanks from Bob Bater

Welcome

Hi. Those of you who knew me well, will understand that I don’t want any pompous ceremonial goings-on here today. Life is for living, and I’m satisfied that I’ve done that to the best of my ability. I had a great life. In the words of the great James Taylor, “try not to try too hard, it's just a lovely ride”. But now I’m dead, and that’s that.

However, I realise that while I’m exercising my privilege to say goodbye as I want, I’ve no right to prevent you from saying goodbye as you want. So, barring hymns, prayers and other religious pomposities, feel free to say what you want. And if you don’t want, I’ll not mind.

For my part, I’d like to say goodbye with three pieces of music. Music meant a great deal to me during my life, as many of you will know. While I have many favourite pieces in many styles and genres (Anji, you still there?), these three pieces are particular favourites.

Piece #1

I love James Taylor’s music and this piece expresses my belief that we are all connected and interdependent and can live in harmony if we really try. Something I worked for all my life.
